Is here any way to get the EVH tone with listed equipment?
Ok so i want to get that eddie van halen tone on my guitar. I have a fender strat hss with 5 way pickup selector switch. My amp is a Behringer firebrid Gx108 with these knobs: Gain, level, bass, mid, and treble. each of them will go up to ten. If it s not possile with this equipment, thats ok i was just wondering. i really want the tone for van halens version of "you really got me". Oh and i dont have any pedals at all i just got this a week ago. Thanks 10 points
Hi! Although you cannot precisely duplicate the EVH tone with your setup, you should be able get a passable tone for the Kink’s tune. Select the humbucker pickup position on your guitar, with the volume and tone controls fully turned up. Set the amplifier controls with Treble at 4, Mid-Range at 10, Bass at 6, and Gain at 5. Gradually bring the volume up to whatever your neighbors will tolerate, and see how it sounds to you. If there is too much grit in the distortion, slightly reduce the volume on the guitar or turn down the Gain. If it sounds too muddy, bring up the Treble level a bit. Lots of mid-range on a Stratocaster can sound nasal or too brittle, so back off a little if you don’t like the effect. For more sustain in the notes, slowly increase the Gain level. The resulting tone may not be exactly like EVH, but you will be able to at least play a respectable version of the song! Best regards, Dana
