How do i play my harmonica amplified through my guitar amp?
So I've played my harp through a PA system on occasion, just because my friends would be doing a gig, and they'd be like, spur of the moment, 'c'mon play a song with us' and so I'd just use the vocal mic through a normal PA setup, but I see all these harp players talkign about playing through tube amps and I'm just wondering how they do that? How can I hook a mic up to guitar amp? A guitar amp has a 1/4" in and a mic is an XLR, completely different, so what's the deal?
You can play a dynamic microphone straight into a guitar amplifier (but not a condenser mic.). All you need is the proper cable. They make XLR to 1/4" cables.
To be a bit more professional, you should use a direct box with an XLR input and a 1/4" output, in between the vocal mic and the guitar amp.
