Beginner Guitarist books? choose between the two? ?
I heard that Mel Bay and Hal Leonard both do beginner guitar method books, but which one would you recommend a total guitar novice buying from amazon?
I'm playing a beginner electric guitar btw.

Mel Bay is what I use-at least the complete methed for modern guitar, which is all about note reading. I don't think there's a complete beginner's guide for guitar by Mel Bay; I've never seen one and on the website I don't see a complete book either.
Just a note, you're gonna have to buy multiple books since one particular book focuses on one aspect of guitar. That can be costly.
If you're a visual learner, I highly suggest you buy Teach Yourself Visually Guitar. That book-for one price-has everything you want to know and more about guitar (both acoustic and electric): note reading, different music styles (rock, blues, etc), scales, repair and maintanence.
But if you can afford it, get lessons and use whatever books you buy as your second teacher per se.
