Do the remastered Pink Floyd albums sound better than the original recordings?
Keep seeing all of these remastered versions of Dark side of the Moon and The wall and etc, but I was wondering if they even sound better than the original.
I have them on vinyl, that is Analog. Once a technician changes what the artists agreed to as their work then it is no longer their work. Add a drum beat here, push up the bass there, lets accent that tamborine ,(that we just added) and so on.
Some remastered recordings are better,like Wax Cylinders of 1906 songs. Or 1928 single cut recordings on Victrolas.
Even those can go to far and something gets lost, the heart and soul of the original gets trampled on by the wants and tastes of a projected market base.
What if I remastered William Shakespeare's plays , it has been done, and it loses something. methinks.
