what would be a good eq setting for a distorted tone with my fender american vintage 57 reissue stratocaster?
Ok well i just got this guitar and i have really go clean tones so i dont need those. But im having difficultly finding a good eq on my amp that brings out the great sounds of this guitar. Ive played and heard it before and it sounds awesome. But anyway i have a fender dsp212 solid state amp, i cant afford another one right now but if you have any suggestions that would be great. For reference im looking for a good gritty, bluesy rock sound. A good tone for stuff like zz top, hendrix, zepplin, eric johnson, ect...
Hello, Nathan! To achieve the tone you seek, you need to think in terms of less gain and more volume and enhanced tone. Stick with the Tweed and Blackface amp settings, and start with only a sparse delay for effects. Set your controls for treble at 50-60%, mid at 100%, and bass at 60-70%. Raise the volume to at least 10%, and slowly bring up the gain control to an acceptable level of loudness. Once you start to introduce grit, back off a little on either the amplifier gain or the guitar volume control. The goal is to get a smooth, sustained, and focused tone, with a very minimum breakup introduced. It may be difficult to accept the reduced gain as being enough to make your guitar sing; but trust me, it will get the job done! Best regards, Dana
