What gauge strings should i get for my bass?
I have a Fender squire J-bass that i keep in drop d and a Tune 5 string that i keep in the 5 string standard tuning. I was wondering which gauge would be best for them.
The best way to find out is to take a look at your nut at the top of the neck and see how they fit. If there is room between the walls and the resting place of the string GO BIGGER... If they are floating (which can damage your bass by the way) GO SMALLER..
Deeper strings have more depth, but Lighter strings will be easier to bend and feel easier to play... What is important to me as a bass player is sustain.
Extra suggestion- get elixer nano-coated, they are more expensive, but they end up being cheaper because they last longer.. (they also sound pretty good)
