will i make better songs if i take guitar lessons?
dont get me wrong im not musically retarded.
background;
piano lessons since age 3.
knew theory (cuz i was takign lessons from 2 teachers), made up good music.
quit when i was 11.
got into heavy metal, took up guitar at 14.
ive been playing over 1.5yrs. no lessons. i can play covers fine, and i get an amazing feeling and i never want to give up, but when my fingers wander the fretboard i get frustrated bcz it doesnt sound good enough, or just any good at all.
i can compose good intros, but then i get stuck after that. im running out of ideas.
some people say theory ruins it, some say knowledge is key. this is extremely confusing, because i know, it depends on the person.
i dont want to give up, but i dont feel like i can be a "true" musician if i suck at making up music.
if i take lessons will i get better? and could someone just please help me out?

Knowledge is power. The idiots telling you that theory isn't helpful are either too dumb to get it or they don't have any aptitude.
Lessons won't help with lyrics, but they sure will help you fill in those measured blanks. Go for it, as ignorance is never a good thing.
