What is the form of art where people follow a set of directions and is usually done in a public place?
During class one of my professors brought this up but I failed to write down what it was called. All I really know about it is that it's a type of art form where there is a set of directions that must be followed and by following those directions is the art form itself. They are usually very odd and would bring about a lot of attention of passersby.
Sounds to me like performance art, intervention art, relational aesthetics, or guerrilla art. It would really depend on what the action/directions involve, who was following them, etc. It sounds like your professor may be talking about a specific artist. Or, more possibly that he was just describing a method that some artists use to achieve their artistic goals (without an actual term).
